Wife SwapHusbands swapping their wives for 10 days. Sounds like a very interesting idea for a reality show, but is the show really as good as the idea? I decided to tune in to one episode to see for myself.Overall I found this show to be well-written and well-produced providing clear insight into the lives of two couples with totally different ways of life and the important lessons that everyone learns from their 10 day experience, ordeal. We see how the wives and husbands use the lessons learned from their experience to better their lives as a family when they do return to their own spouses. In this TV program this experience will bring the families closer together, but is this always the case with wife swapping and the swinging lifestyle? Two wives from two totally different lifestyles are expected to change the way they live and adapt to their new life. Sounds impossible? It really is. You have Jody who is use to the rich and care-free lifestyle. Never having to clean, take care of the kids and cook. Suddenly she is thrown into a situation where she is expected to get up at 5:30 am and work which to nobody's surprise she is incapable of doing. Brad her new husband sees that the work he expects her to do is not being done. The house is not being cleaned. He is really upset and disappointed, yet quite naive. This eventually leads to a number of heated arguments between her and Brad which continues for a few days.On the other hand, Lynne is expected to have everything taken care of for her by her hired help. To sleep in late, go shopping, go to the hair salon, etc... Of course after a while she can't handle this. She's used to working and spending time with her family so she begins to redecorate the house the way she sees fit.Seeing that things aren't working out, it doesn't take long before the wives set their own new rules for their newly adopted families. The wives look at the situation this way, if they cannot adapt to the current situation, they realize that they need to change things to make it work for themselves. Brad is now expected to clean, chop wood for his business, cook. Steven is expected to spend more time with the family and has to get rid of the hired help.In the end, these new rules help Brad appreciate what Lynn does for him and he mentions that he really misses her. It also enables Brad and Jody to develop a friendship and better understanding of each other and the way they live their different lives. Now you see Brad cutting wood and Jody helping him, working together and communicating. On the other hand, the new rules do bring Steven closer to his family but his attitude and treatment of Lynn forces her to leave the home early.
Once the 10 days are over, everyone
admits that they have learned many valuable lessons from this experience.
Upon their return home, the lives they lead as a family changes dramatically
for the better.
